At Safe Harbor Asset Management we help clients potentially grow their assets by providing our clients with our services, while striving to safeguard clients capital from a volatile market. We believe investment success is mostly influenced by the asset allocation process and that stock picking or market timing is a costly endeavor that seldom delivers appreciable results. Our investment process is strictly guided by the principles of the Noble Prize winning Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT). By utilizing powerful computer models we seek to determine the “optimal” mix of asset classes selected from the available universe of assets that will deliver the greatest return with the least volatility. We also believe there is an “art” as well as a “science” in managing money. The art is the instinct; something that is hard to define and only comes with experience. This science is our proven system. When combined, it becomes a powerful combination. The market has a mind of it’s own that cannot be controlled. The only things that can be controlled in portfolio management are costs and taxes. Therefore we spend time seeking the lowest cost alternatives available. Minimization of costs is maintained by using a Core Portfolio of Electronically Traded Index Funds (ETF’s), which offer a very low cost structure. They also minimize taxes by their ability to avoid capital gains distributions, a result of their method of buying and selling portfolio securities. Stephen K. Davis is the President of Stephen K.
